Introduction

CLE was established in 1994 by a group of brothers and sisters who are interested in the Church of China and are burdened with the Gospel ministry to the Chinese people.  This cluster of people had already been involved with China through another ministry, Educational Services Exchange with China (ESEC), which was established in 1980.  Over a decade of involvement with China provided them first-hand experiences in many facets of Chinese society and the many opportunities for Christian involvement.  In realizing the significant growth of the Chinese Church during the 80s and 90s, in recognition of the amazing grace of God in the midst of the Chinese, and in response to the Great Commission, CLE was established to work directly with the Church in China through servanthood ministry.

China quake Relief

About the quake in Sichuan China on May 12, 2008, the destructive force has shaken more than just the ground, the building and the lost lives. But it also shook the confidence of the million lives and the faith of the Christian community. Time is too short to get into details. I would like to ask for your quick action. Let me outline for you the short and longer plans.

The Background

Christian Leadership Exchange (www.cle-china.org) has had good working relationship with China's Christian community and the State Administration of Religious Affairs (SARA of China's State Departments). CLE has chosen to work with SARA because of the long term works ahead. While most relief organizations (Red Cross, World Vision) are there for acute relief works, the long term works rest with the Government. (ANOTHER OPTION TO GIVE IS THROUGH CCC. THE SARA CHANNEL IS USED SO WE CAN DO LONGER TERM INVOLVEMENT WITH THE QUAKE STRICKEN AREAS).

Strategy One

CLE is equipped to receive funds in the next few weeks. By mid June, leaders from the International Christian community, key Christian leaders from the US, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and others will present the donation to SARA. We would like to demonstrate a sense of Unity that there is only one Church which is the body of Christ.

Strategy Two

As this email is being written, there is already a plan being executed in Beijing right now. Project "5.12 Post Traumatic Counseling and TIP learning of Children" is underway. This project is to train volunteers to work with children being affected by the disaster. Volunteers are being recruited right now. Psychiatric counseling for volunteers to deal with Post Traumatic Depression will be needed.

Strategy Three

This will be a long term rebuilding project. We would like to continue to work with SARA as a united body of Christ.

Please pray for this matter and give your support. If you or your organization would like to make a tax deductable donation, please issue your check to
